The University of Virginia's Nanoscience Institute opened its labs to the public Saturday to share hands-on demonstrations as part of its annual Nano-Days program.
The event featured dozens of interactive exhibits, including a pool you can walk on and metal that's as bouncy as a trampoline. The student scientists easily found willing volunteers to try them out.
Gerry Floro, a material science professor at UVA, hopes Nano-Days will inspire others to wonder about science at its most minuscule level.
