The #14 Virginia women's lacrosse team rallied from a four-goal second half deficit to beat James Madison 12-10 Wednesday night at University Hall Turf Field.
UVa scored seven straight goals after JMU went up 9-5 on a goal by Amy Ruguski early in the 2nd half.
Liza Blue and Casey Bocklet each scored three goals to pace the Cavaliers.
"JMU, we knew they are a great team," says Bocklet. "We talked about it earlier that we needed this win for us, and to get this win is huge, and it's going to help us so much more."
Head coach Julie Myers adds, "JMU is always a feisty, aggressive team, so any time you can beat them you're feeling pretty good. We need to get closer to .500. We're going into an ACC game again on Saturday, so the emotion and the confidence we get from this is going to go a long way for us."
Virginia (4-5, 0-2 ACC) will travel to face Duke on Saturday, while JMU (4-4) will host Maryland.
