A new building is attracting thousands of new book lovers to Crozet's library. The library is celebrating six months of success.
The number of people coming through its doors jumped 93 percent from when the library was crammed in its old home. Circulation is up 70 percent.
The Crozet branch of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library has issued more than 1,350 new library cards since opening in September.
“It's a shock and at the same time it's very heartwarming to see how the community has gravitated toward the library. It's being used as a community center,” said Bill Schrader, Crozet Library fundraising chair.
A fundraising committee continues to collect donations with the goal of adding 25,000 new items to Crozet's collection.
A swing band concert is scheduled for March 29 to benefit the library and Fardowners Restaurant is donating a percentage of food sales from April 14 to April 16 to the library.
