The University of Virginia football team is in its third week of spring practice. On Tuesday, the guys worked out in full pads for the first time this spring.
There are 22 seniors on this year's squad. At least two of them say they are impressed and inspired with the success of the UVA basketball team.
Senior punter Alec Vozenilek's brother Rob is a walk-on on the UVA hoops team. He says, "Its awesome just seeing the way the play together, the roles they take on. Justin and all his excitement just on defense, not being that much of a scorer, Joe taking less shots, everyone just doing their roll is awesome and I think that's when you really have a successful team."
Senior tight end Jake McGee says, "Its good to see how well they're doing. Its good to see a group of guys, you can just tell, I've been to almost every game this year, and you see that there's a trust in each other and a bond they have and if we can copy cat that out here it'll lead you in the right direction."
Coach Mike London says, "I'm so happy for Coach Bennett and the basketball program and the university as well, because the university is on the minds of a lot of people nationally, and the success that Tony's had after being here a while and putting together a plan and a process is something we look forward to doing as well."
The UVA basketball team is a 1-seed for the NCAA tournament. They will play 16-seed Coastal Carolina Friday at 9:15 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina in the East region.
