Thanks to an observant citizen and good police work, ACPD officers were able to make a quick arrest following a strong arm robbery.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, around 12:00 noon a woman reported that she was robbed in a parking lot in the 500 block of Branchlands Boulevard, just off Seminole Trail. According to the victim an unknown male suspect approached her, grabbed her hand and took her purse.
The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was able to provide a basic description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.
With the information provided, officers were able to link the information and locate the suspect at his place of employment. The suspect, Mark Anthony Payne, 60 YOA, a resident of Crozier, in Goochland County, was subsequently arrested and charged with one felony count of robbery and was taken to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
This arrest highlights the importance of police and community partnerships. By working together, we were quickly able to solve this crime and make an arrest.
