RICHMOND, Va (WVIR) -
State lawmakers will return to Richmond March 24 to continue the debate over healthcare expansion and the state budget.
The General Assembly adjourned over the weekend without a spending plan in place, leading some lawmakers to launch a bristly protest. Delegates Tag Greason and Greg Habeeb say they won't shave until the legislature passes a budget.
“It's a little uncomfortable, but I think it's a statement that we've got to get the budget done and I'm not going to shave until we do,” Greason said.
House Republicans are currently caught in a budget stalemate with Democrats over healthcare expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
Democrats say they won't pass a budget without expansion, but Republicans want to debate the two issues separately.
