Tom Tom Founders Fest Releases 2014 Music Lineup

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (March, 2014) Tom Tom Founders Festival will host dozens of free concerts in Downtown Charlottesville, VA, Wednesday, April 9th through Sunday, April 13th. These diverse concerts take place across multiple venues on the city’s historic pedestrian mall and draw artists from Nashville to Brooklyn. The signature events of Tom Tom Fest are outdoor, public facing block parties held in different locations throughout the weekend.


  • Thursday, April 10th: Opening Gala at The Haven, a restored church, couples keynote innovators like Bruce Flohr, Executive at Red Light Management, with indie all­stars Miracles of Modern Science (The Guardian, NPR,Wired, Paste, NYT, Spin) and Bombadil (NYT, NPR, IndyWeek, Paste, TimeOut NY).
  • Friday, April 11th: C­Ville Weekly’s 25th Birthday Party at the McGuffey Art Center with Afropop ten­piece Elikeh (FT,NPR, WaPo, performed recently at The Kennedy Center), hip hop marching band Elby Brass, step teams, and a New Belgium craft beer garden. The night ends with a funk and soul dance party on the lawn by DJs Grits ‘N’ Gravy.
  • Saturday, April 12th: Picnic Day in Lee Park is a daytime party with big, fun sounds from go­go band Double Faces and jam rockers Major and the Monbacks, alongside an open air performance by The Richmond Ballet’ Minds in Motion, vintage and craft markets, sculpture installations, and chef demos.
  • Saturday, April 12th: Fellinis Jazz Fest closes 2nd Street and spills into the adjoining parking lot with a Mardi Gras atmosphere. Eighteen­piece swing band, Sentimental Journey, leads off a night peppered with jazz virtuosos like Robert Jospe´, blues singers, and rock ‘n’ roll.
  • Sunday, April 13th: Belmont Bash brunch concerts featuring college radio favorites You’re Jovian and Suburban Living alongside porch concerts in Charlottesville’s most eclectic neighborhood.


Wednesday: The Haven, Crowdfunded Pitch Night with Anatomy of Frank.

Thursday: The Haven, Opening Gala: Entrepreneurship keynotes with Bruce Flohr of Red Light Management and concerts with Lord Nelson, Bombadil, and Miracles of Modern Science.

Friday: The Haven, Crowd chosen winner gets $250 cash prize at the Songwriting Competition. The McGuffey Block Party with step teams, craft beer, and local food, and performances by Elikeh, Elby Brass, and Grits n Gravy

Saturday: Lee Park, Picnic Day with vintage and handmade fairs and music by Major and the Monbacks, The Hill & Wood, The Double Faces, Elim Bolt, and Gold Light.

The Haven Indie showcase with a Virginia Film Festival screening of If We Shout Loud Enough, about Baltimore’s DIY punk scene,followed with a performance by Baltimore’s Pure Junk, by Drop Electric, and by Spirit Animal.

Sunday: Belmont Bash, Brunch­time folk rock at the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative with You're Jovian, Kings of Belmont, Suburban Living, and porch concerts.
