Posted: Updated:

The top-ranked Virginia baseball team beat Duke 2-1 Sunday to win its first ACC series of the conference season Sunday in Durham.

The teams split a doubleheader Saturday, with both games decided by a 3-2 score.

Sophomore Brandon Waddell (3-1) pitched six innings for UVa, allowing just three hits and one run.

The Cavaliers scored their only runs of the game in the 2nd inning, when a sac fly by Nate Irving scored Joe McCarthy, and error by the Blue Devils also allowed Nick Howard to come home.

Virginia will get back on the field Tuesday against James Madison.

The Dukes upset 22nd-ranked Seton Hall 11-3 Sunday.

Chad Carroll went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored for JMU.

They wrap up their series Monday at one o'clock.

The Virginia softball team was no-hit by 9th-ranked Florida State Sunday, and lost 15-0 in five-innings in the series finale at The Park.

FSU scored eleven runs in the third inning alone.

The Cavaliers had picked up their first win in four years against a Top Ten team in Game One of the series against the Seminoles Saturday.

UVa will play a double-header at Georgia Tech Wednesday.
