CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

The Olympics are over, but Virginia's figure skaters are just beginning their season.

The Main Street Arena in Charlottesville hosted the Virginia State Games Figure Skating Competition Saturday.

Figure skaters came from all over Virginia to offer the judges their best three-minute routines.

Megan Rowe, president of the Charlottesville Figure Skating Club, says these performers put in months of hard work to prepare.

“They run their programs over and over and over again because you have to get really confident and really have it memorized and be able to work out everything, so that takes many, many hours of practice,” she said.

Competitors ranged from 5-year-old first-timers all the way to adults who have been competing for years.
