VA House Says No to Marcus ABC Appointment

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia House of Delegates is scrapping a controversial appointment to the state liquor board.

In a party-line vote Friday afternoon, the Republican-controlled chamber denied longtime GOP strategist Boyd Marcus' appointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Control board - a $130,000 a year job.

Republicans have criticized Governor Terry McAuliffe for Marcus' appointment to the highly paid post, raising ethical questions after the Republican crossed party lines to back McAuliffe in last year's gubernatorial election.
