Anonymous Donor Offers Salvation Army Matching Gift Opportunity
Salvation Army Charlottesville
Salvation Army Press Release
It should come as no surprise that The Salvation Army works every day of the year to shelter and feed the homeless of the Central Virginia area. Every night, more than 75 men, women, and children utilize the shelter programs at 207 Ridge Street and every day, the Soup Kitchen is open to serve three hot meals. In 2013, volunteers and staff served more than 48,000 meals.
In January, The Salvation Army of Charlottesville was presented with a unique opportunity from an anonymous donor – raise $50,000 for the programs and services of The Salvation Army and receive a match of $50,000. The condition of the matching gift is that the funds must be raised by May 15, 2014.
The impact of this matching grant will do tremendous good in our community. Every dollar you give will be doubled to support the work of The Salvation Army in Charlottesville. Please give today, generously, knowing the multiplied difference you’ll make to the less fortunate in our community. Gifts should be marked CHARLOTTESVILLE MATCH and sent to 207 Ridge Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
The Salvation Army has been providing services in the Charlottesville Community since 1912. The local programs include the Emergency Shelter and Center of Hope Transitional Housing Programs, the Soup Kitchen, Social Services, Food Pantry, Homeless Intervention Program, and Disaster Services. Additionally, the Family Store accepts donations at its Cherry Avenue retail location.
