A Richmond man is facing jail time after coordinating illegal firearms purchases at gun shows in Henrico and Augusta counties.
According to the Times-Dispatch, 43-year-old Shawn Johnson, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Henrico Circuit Court to conspiracy charges.
Johnson, who was not legally allowed to buy guns, had two heroin addicts he knew do it for him in exchange for free drugs. On August 24 guns were purchased at a gun show at Richmond International Raceway and later more were purchased at a gun show in Fishersville.
Johnson then resold 11 pistols to a New Jersey man who was later charged with murder.
Johnson faces 20 years in prison for the straw purchases. He also faces 15 felony charges in Augusta County, including possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, giving a firearm to an ineligible person and soliciting someone to buy him a firearm as an ineligible person.
