Blue Ridge PACE Opens its Doors

Posted: Updated:

The Blue Ridge Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) opened its doors Wednesday.

Pace provides comprehensive care to eligible seniors so that they can remain at home. That care also gives up to 175 seniors clinical care, therapy and other services under one roof. It includes an adult day care center, bathing facilities, physician-supervised exam rooms, and physical therapy.

“All of our home health is coordinated out of our facility and we meet regularly so there is a much higher level of care coordination than is usually available because of the way Medicare, Medicaid and the health care system in general still continues to be fragmented,” said medical director Dr. Mark Newbrough

PACE is a joint venture of the Riverside Health System, the University of Virginia Health System, and the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA).
