The 10-seed UVa women's basketball team got a game-high 23 points from Ataira Franklin in beating 15-seed Boston College 74-59 in the first round of the ACC tournament Wednesday in Greensboro.
The 'Hoos hit nine 3-pointers in the game. Franklin had four of them. Virginia led by seven at halftime and quickly extended the lead to 15 early in the second half.
Coach Joanne Boyle said, "Its all about advancing and I thought we played a pretty good well-rounded game on both ends of the floor so I was excited about that we played some good team basketball which is what we've been working towards."
Franklin said, "Its literally do or die for us, we love playing together and these are the last games we're going to play together as a team so I think everyone's eager, excited and hungry to finish the season out strong."
Sarah Imovbioh added 14 points and Lexie Gerson had 10 points.
Virginia advances to face 7-seed Georgia Tech Thursday at 6pm.
