Tony Bennett Talks Terps; NCAA Tournament Seedings

Posted: Updated:

With the Terrapins leaving next year for the Big-10 conference, rivals Maryland and Virginia will play on Sunday for maybe the last time ever in the regular season.

The 'Hoos beat the Terps earlier this season at John Paul Jones Arena by eight points, pulling away in the second half after a back-and-forth battle.

Coach Tony Bennett said, "They had us on the ropes here and it'll be the last regular season ACC game for them, that's always a charged atmosphere, so going in there we'll have to play a good game, nothing different.:

After clinching the ACC regular season championship this past weekend, the 'Hoos have the entire week to prepare for Sunday's regular season finale.

Bennett says, "You use it to get your rest, you use it to prepare and use it to improve, that's the key. When you have these bye weeks or long weeks... Will you use it to improve?

Right now the 'Hoos are ranked 5th in the nation and projected to be either a two-seed or three-seed for the NCAA tournament.

Bennett says, "I think its way to early to worry about that, and this year more than other years you could take probably 20 of the teams that are ranked in the top-20 and put them in a hat and pull them out and there's very little separation, it's a matter of who's hot so the seeding this year in the NCAA tournament rankings I don't think they're as significant as year's past."

Virginia and Maryland tip-off at noon on Sunday.
