Bill Allowing Intellectual Disabilities on IDs Heads to Senate

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, Va (WVIR) -

Monday in Richmond, lawmakers are moving forward on legislation that could make it easier for people with intellectual disabilities to live more normal lives.

The bill would allow anyone with autism or an intellectual disability to voluntarily list that condition on a driver's license or state-issued ID. Different versions of the measure have now passed in both chambers.

The Senate will take its final vote later this week.
