Mental Health Bill Crafted by UVA Students Heads to Governor's Desk

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

A bill crafted by students at the University of Virginia is on its way to the governor's desk.

If signed into law, the bill will require Virginia’s colleges and universities to feature on their websites a page dedicated solely to the mental health resources available to students.

Last month, a House committee stripped some provisions from the original bill - including required mental health education.

The UVA student-authors of the bill say this is a first step toward making mental health resources more accessible for college students.
