The #4 Virginia Men's lacrosse team (6-0, 1-0 ACC) remains undefeated, as the Cavaliers beat #6 Syracuse 17-12 at Klockner Stadium Saturday night.
James Pannell led the 'Hoos with a career high seven goals against the Orange.
"I was just trying to put it in the goal," said Pannell. "I got a lot of shots. I mean seven goals, you have to be taking a lot of shots, so gotta give a lot of credit to my teammates for passing me the ball that many times."
Mark Cockerton tacked on seven points with four goals and three assists.
Virginia defender Scott McWilliams added a long-stick goal for the 'Hoos.
McWilliams said, "We're having a blast. It's nice to be undefeated at this point, but we know we're about to hit the strength of our schedule. It's going to keep getting harder each week. We just have to focus on getting better and erase the mistakes we know we can improve."
Virginia bettered Syracuse in groundballs 51-22.
Syracuse turned over the ball 12 times while the Wahoos only turned it over four times.
The Cavaliers will hit the road next Saturday to face Cornell at noon.
