UVa Football Begins Spring Practice; Open Competition for Starting QB Job

Posted: Updated:

Mike London and the UVa football team had its first spring practice today.

The 'Hoos are eager for a fresh start this year after a disappointing record last season of 2-10.

A lot of eyes will be on highly touted freshman Andrew Brown. The 5-star defensive was wearing number 9 at today's practice. Brown enrolled early in January.

Coach London says the battle for the starting quarterback job is wide open after starter David Watford struggled last season.

London explained, "Open competition. We have to see production from that quarterback position. We have to get completions. Decisions have to be made whether by throwing the ball or pulling the ball down and running. All those things that quarterbacks have to do will be graded. Every throw, every rep, every situation.   This Spring practice will be scrutinized."
