UVA’s Black Student Alliance Meeting Focuses on ‘Political Agenda’
The University of Virginia’s Black Student Alliance is voicing its concerns about the future of the university.
The group held a town hall meeting Friday afternoon, called "Black Student Issues: Setting Our Political Agenda." Students talked about where they stand in the strategic plan and what issues need to be addressed.
"This meeting is important because students have historically been a part of self-governance at the University of Virginia, especially black students, they have been particularly active and so we want to as an organization stay true to our history and tradition of being engaged as the university moves forward,” said Dana Cypress, a member of the alliance.
The group plans to take the priorities that emerged from the meeting to university leadership.
