The Charlottesville Bypass Truth Coalition will have to pay a fine for running a radio ad last year against a pair of Republican candidates for the Albemarle Board of Supervisors that supported the Western Bypass.
The Daily Progress is reporting that Albemarle County's Electoral Board voted Thursday to fine the nonprofit $100 for the group's ad, which aired before November’s election. The vote came just one day before Republicans on the electoral board were expected to lose their majority.
Last week, Commonwealth's Attorney Denise Lunsford said the spending crossed a line and that while the group should have filed paperwork regarding its spending, she was not going to prosecute.
