A Fluvanna County man is recovering at the University of Virginia Medical Center following a crash that closed the Thomas Jefferson Parkway Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews flew the victim to the hospital after his vehicle went off Route 53 and hit a tree head-on. It happened just after 4 p.m. Police say the man hurt in the accident did not have his seatbelt on, and they're trying to figure out what caused the crash.
The traffic backup from that crash resulted in another minor crash on the same road. We do not know the conditions of any victims involved in the second crash.
