Wahoo Women's Basketball Falls 83-63 Against Miami on Senior Night
Ataira Franklin scored 17 points in her final home game
The Virginia women's basketball team lost 83-63 against Miami on Senior Night at John Paul Jones Arena.
Senior Ataira Franklin scored a team-high 17 points in her final game in front of the home crowd.
"Because it's Senior Night, you get eager, and you get excited," says Franklin. "There's a lot of emotions that go into wanting to finish strong, and put on a good show for the fans for the last time, but we just got complacent, and once Miami threw a punch at us, we were never able to punch back."
UVa (13-15, 6-9 ACC) led by four at halftime, but were outscored 51-27 in second half.
The Cavaliers made just 18-of-64 shots from the field (28.1%), while the Hurricanes connected on 55.7% of their shots.
Sarah Imovbioh and Breyana Mason each scored 12 points for Virginia.
Miami (15-15, 7-8 ACC) was led by Keyona Hayes with 22 points, and Adrienne Motley with 21.
UVa will play its final game of the regular season Sunday at 12:30 at Florida State.
