Albemarle Police Investigate Larcenies from Vehicles

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County Police Department Press Release

The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a rash of larceny from auto cases. At least 30 unlocked cars were entered overnight in the residential communities of Fontana, Pavilions at Pantops and Forest Lakes North. In addition to these larcenies, the residential communities of Key West, Franklin, Mill Creek, Foxcroft and Lake Reynovia were targeted on Sunday and Monday nights. All of the cars targeted were unlocked.

The department is tracking this trend and patrol officers are working on a plan of action to address the issue. The community can help us investigate by reporting any suspicious activity. Please be extra vigilant and report anything suspicious that you see or hear. It is also important to remember to keep your car locked and take your valuables inside. Anything left in plain sight, including loose change, makes your car a target. You might also consider leaving on an outdoor light as deterrence. Please make your personal safety a priority and help us as we investigate these crimes.
