ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

Part of Route 29 in Albemarle County is back open after a tractor-trailer crash Wednesday morning.

The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. near Heards Mountain Road. The tractor-trailer driver lost control, flipped and took down a power pole and several power lines.

Virginia Department of Transportation Press Release:

CULPEPER — Motorists using Route 29 (Monacan Trail) south of Charlottesville should be advised that traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction.

Just before 2 a.m. a tractor-trailer headed southbound struck a power pole in the area of Route 633 (Heards Mountain Road) in Covesville and overturned, bringing down power lines across the roadway. The trailer split open, spilling its cargo of large rolls of paper.

The Virginia Department of Transportation and first responders have worked to reduce northbound traffic to one lane and divert southbound traffic onto the northbound side of the roadway. One lane of traffic is now moving in each direction.
