Albemarle Police to Host ‘Coffee with a Cop’

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County police are inviting people who live in the northern part of the county to coffee. Officers from the Jefferson District are hosting the county's first “Coffee with a Cop” Wednesday at the Hollymead Starbucks.

The morning meet-and-greet will give people the chance to chat with the men and women who patrol their streets in a casual setting over a free cup of coffee.

“Our goal is to increase trust, which is really the foundation of building effective partnerships with the aim of problem solving and to be more engaged and more involved in our community,” said Albemarle County Police Captain Pete Mainzer.

Coffee with a Cop starts at 7 a.m. Officers and supervisors will be there for about an hour to answer questions and listen to community concerns.

Albemarle police plan to put together more coffee talks around the county.
