The Albemarle County community is honoring one of its own veterans.

Former Air Force First Lieutenant Arthur Ordel fought for the United States in World War II. Now the Keswick man is being honored by his fellow veterans and leaders in the community.

Ordel was also honored last week by President Obama and French President Francois Hollande.

“I've never had anything like it but it's been fun. We were in Washington weeks ago and I got to shake hands with Obama and had a kiss from the president of France,” Ordel said.

Charlottesville City Council and the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors also spoke to honor Ordel.
