Charlottesville Preschool Commended for Quality

Posted: Updated:

A Charlottesville preschool is receiving top honors for its commitment to education. The First Baptist Early Childhood Development Center has received a four-star rating as part of the Virginia Star Quality Initiative.

The ratings are largely based on classroom interactions and the teachers' relationships with students.

Director Ann Easton says the entire staff has worked hard to improve its previous three-star status.

"It was awesome. We worked so hard for probably six years to get that other star, so it's been a long process. The teachers have worked really hard in order to achieve that,” said Easton.

The development center works closely with Children, Youth and Family Services to provide training for directors and staff members along with other resources.
