Man Facing Multiple Charges After Standoff in Augusta

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

A Stuarts Draft man is under arrest Wednesday after a brief standoff that put schools on lockdown. Aaron Meadows, 27, is charged with assault and battery, destruction of property, discharging and reckless handling of a firearm.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office and the SWAT team responded to a call about a domestic disturbance behind Stuarts Draft High School Wednesday morning after at least one shot was fired. Stuarts Draft elementary, middle and high schools were put on lockdown as a precaution.

Meadows surrendered around 11:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.
