SkillsUSA Contest Held at CATEC

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of high school students showed off their skills Monday in an Albemarle County competition. SkillsUSA Virginia District Six held its annual skills and leadership contest Monday at Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC).

Students from schools across central Virginia performed for judges in different fields such as cosmetology, culinary arts, masonry, auto service.

“They're helping to fill the skills gap that America has from across the nation. This is also Career and Technical Education Month, so it's a great time for the students to showcase what they're going to be doing,” said Deborah Tripp, SkillsUSA student specialist

Winners of each contest Monday will go to the state tournament in Roanoke this April.
