While most people wanted to curl up under a blanket during last week's storm, a Boy Scout in Albemarle County decided the winter weather was a perfect time to do some backyard camping.
14-year-old Chris Wildman built an igloo and then slept in it. He learned how to make igloos through Scout Troop 111.
He says he started forming the snow into blocks, made a base and then built a dome with a hole for air.
“I slept it from about 9:30 at night until 6:30 in the morning and I didn't wake up once during the night,” he said.
Wildman's father says his son is well trained in survival skills.
Chris says he may continue to sleep in the igloo if it stays cold enough.
