Snow piles and narrow sidewalks are making it more difficult for people with disabilities to get around Charlottesville.
Tim Gaston who relies on a wheelchair says it's a challenge to get around right now.
Snow covers sidewalk ramps after plows cleared the streets.
Snow also blocks access from handicapped parking spots to the sidewalks
Many shoveled pathways are too narrow for a person in a wheelchair to maneuver through.
“The ice and the snow make it real difficult for my wheels to turn,” Gaston said. “I slide a lot, some of the embankments cover the curb where I need to go down and cross the street.”
The city says it's working through a snow clearing schedule and crews hope to tackle the curbs and public walkways soon.
It is the owner's responsibility to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and corners on private property.
