Kentucky had 11 hits.
The Wildcats scored four runs in the 4th inning and never trailed after that.
Head coach Brian O'Connor says, "We've got 56 of these things, it's a long season. We've got two more this weekend. I don't think you put too much into it. We lost a ballgame against a really good opponent. In college baseball, you're going to lose games. We just found out we're not going to go 56-0 in the regular season."
Virginia went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position against Kentucky.
Junior outfielder Derek Fisher says, "I think the good thing right now it obviously we're going to keep our heads high. We know we're talented. We just couldn't finish the innings today, and obviously come out tomorrow and give it our best."
Virginia plays VMI Saturday at Noon in Wilmington.
