Health issues are forcing a Staunton city councilman to end his run for Congress.

Bruce Elder will undergo radiation treatments to treat a cancerous growth on his face. In a Facebook post, Elder says it will be months before he will be able to speak normally.

The Democrat would have faced long-time Republican incumbent Bob Goodlatte in November's election.
