You have the chance of winning a $1,000 cash prize by simply submitting a photograph of the Charlottesville area.

The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is announcing the 2014 "Capture Charlottesville and Albemarle Photography Contest.” Organizers are encouraging people to send any photos that show the city or county as a unique destination.

“The photos will be used for the purpose of really spreading the word about Charlottesville and Albemarle County and trying to get visitors to come here and spend time with us, visit our attractions, stay in our hotels,” said Bri Warner, the CACVB’s director of sales.

There is no limit on how many photos can be submitted by one person.

The deadline to send in photos is April 20. Winners will be announced at the annual tourism awards event in May.
