CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
A Charlottesville nonprofit agency is encouraging people to pay it forward with random acts of kindness this week.
The United Way Thomas Jefferson Area's Volunteer Center is celebrating International Random Acts of Kindness Week starting Monday.
The United Way says the point is to make someone smile, whether it's complimenting a friend or buying a co-worker a cup of coffee.
“We just thought it's a nice way to make our community that much better and have people think about ways they could be nice to each other,” said United Way’s vice president of marketing and communications Kim Connolly
The United Way is hoping people will share their stories of kind acts on the group's Facebook page.
They will also be posting blog updates about the initiative throughout the week.
