CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

Figure skaters from the Charlottesville Figure Skating Club glided across the ice on Saturday to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Virginia.

The Public Skate included an exhibition and Skate-a-Thon at the Main Street Arena.

Club skaters performed programs they've been working on throughout the season and then everyone got to have some fun on the ice.

“I think it is really fun for them to go out there with their friends put on some music and skate laps,” club president Megan Rowe said.

About 25 kids took part in the Skate-a-Thon.

The Main Street Arena also donated 15 percent of the proceeds from Saturday's public skating sessions to the Boys and Girls Club.
