Some auditory art is gracing storefronts on Charlottesville’s downtown mall. The painted violins are part of a fundraising program to send the Charlottesville High School orchestra to France.
The violins were painted by Charlottesville-area artists, and one was even signed by Boyd Tinsley, the violinist in the Dave Matthews Band. They're being sold in an online silent auction.
"I think Charlottesville's a really special community and it's a place in which an idea like this can really take hold and flourish, and every time we've done it, people have been more excited about it and more people know about it,” said CHS orchestra teacher Laura Thomas.
The auction ends Saturday at 9 p.m. If you would like to place a bid, click here.
