Ethics Reform Bills Move Through State Legislature

With a federal corruption case looming for Virginia’s former Governor Bob McDonnell, lawmakers are poised to make some big changes to the state's ethics laws for politicians.

A House panel approved a plan Friday afternoon that includes gift disclosure from family members, the creation of an ethics advisory council, and a $250 cap on individual gifts.

The House and Senate are expected to vote on nearly identical ethics reform plans early next week.
