Valentine's Day-Themed Fashion Show Raises Money for French Program
Spring Street Boutique
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
Charlottesville models are gearing up to stroll down the catwalk for a good cause at a fashion show fundraiser.
The show is hosted by Spring Street Boutique and the Alliance Française of Charlottesville, or AFC, a language school that hosts cultural events.
The Valentine's Day-themed runway show will highlight French fashions as well as other styles.
The models are AFC students and members. "Miss Virginia" Desiree Williams will also be a presenter.
The first part of the show will feature casual wear and the second part will have more glamour and high fashion.
The goal is to raise money for AFC Children's Enrichment program, which teaches students about French language and culture after school.
"It's been shown to be really beneficial for academic success to have that exposure to another language and another culture so we'd really like to offer that to other people," said Nathalie Pincham, the director of AFC.
Currently the French program is in Sutherland Middle School, Hollymead Elementary, Meriwether Lewis Elementary School, and Mountaintop Montessori School.
The AFC would like to raise enough money to expand the programs to other schools. Venable Elementary, Jackson-Via Elementary and Johnson Elementary are the three that they'd like to target first.
The fashion show takes place Saturday at 6 p.m. at Spring Street on the downtown mall. The event will feature a raffle. It's free with a suggested $10 donation, and the clothes that the models wear are also available in the store.
