Albemarle High School field hockey standout Sarah Vrhovac signed her national letter of intent to play field hockey at Longwood Thursday.
Vrhovac played all over the field for the Patriots, scoring 4-goals and dishing out 5-assists, while also making twenty defensive saves over her junior and senior seasons.
Signing letter's of intent is nothing new for the Vrhovac family, as Sarah's older brother Zach ran track at UVa, and her sister Jordan plays field hockey at Radford University.
"It's an honor, actually," says Vrhovac, "just being able to continue the legacy in my family to be able to go to the next level and play. It's just an honor."
Vrhovac says she wanted to make her own mark at Longwood, rather than following her sister to play for the Highlanders.
"I've been (to Longwood) a bunch of times," says Vrhovac. "My sister played field hockey at Radford, so I've been watching them play them a lot. The whole atmosphere once I got there was just really welcoming. From the bottom of my heart I kind of knew it was right."
