Cville Radio Host Fundraises for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
A Charlottesville radio show morning host has already raised almost $1,800 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - and it's all thanks to his long pony tail.
Joe Thomas from WCHV radio was diagnosed with lymphoma at the start of the year. Since his hair is going to fall out from chemotherapy treatments anyway, he decided to make some good out of a tough situation. He's going to shave his head and auction off his pony tail - loved by many listeners of his radio show.
"I thought perhaps given the fact that over all these years all the listeners have commented on the length of my hair, I said ‘well, we'll give somebody the opportunity to cut it off but only if they contribute money to leukemia and lymphoma society,’” Thomas said.
Thomas is shaving his head Friday morning sometime between 8:30 and 9:00 live on the air.
