Nearing the end of his first month in office next week, Governor Terry McAuliffe signed his first bill into law Wednesday.

It's a routine measure to help bring the commonwealth more in line with the federal tax code.

“They wanted action from their legislators and their executive branch and we did it so I'm honored to sign this first piece of legislation,” said McAuliffe.

As tax season begins, McAuliffe says the bill will help more than 230,000 Virginians take advantage of the extended earned income tax credit.
