A new shopping center could be popping up soon in Albemarle County. The Architectural Review Board met Monday to take a look at its preliminary plans.
The new three-shop complex would sit along Fifth Street and share an entrance with the Holiday Inn. Chairman Bruce Wardell says it will be similar to new construction on Pantops and the 29 North corridor.
One of the shops will have a drive-through. Wardell says it might be for a Starbucks.
"What they indicated is that there will be a shop on one end and another on the other end, perhaps a restaurant in between,” Wardell said.
Wardell says there isn't a date set for construction to begin. He does say, though, it seems to be moving along quickly because the developer already has a site plan pending approval.
