Charlottesville is on the top ten list of fastest shrinking economies in the nation.
The website 24/7 Wall Street breaks down the data from a report to the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The report says Charlottesville's economy contracted 2.2 percent in 2013. That's the seventh worst of the metropolitan areas surveyed.
A 1.9 percent reduction in employment was the fifth worst on the list.
The report suggests Charlottesville's economy will grow this year.
