UVa Men's Lacrosse Prepares to Turn it Around in 2014
The UVa men's lacrosse team plays its season opener in less than a week. They host Loyola on Thursday.
Virginia is ranked in the top-10 in all four major preseason polls, ranked as high as 7th.
The 'Hoos are coming off disappointing season where they finished with a record of 7-8 and missed the NCAA tournament for only the second time in over two decades under coach Dom Starsia.
But that's in the past now and coach says he's eager to get back out there. Starsia elaborated, "I walk by the softball office everyday, I am always saying to those guys- hey! Still undefeated eh, ya know? You don't have to worry about that quite yet. Everybody is fighting for a position. There's a lot of energy in the air. There's a lot of expectations in the air."
Fifth year, Chris LaPierre said, "We won that championship a few years back and now the only guys on the team that have the rings are the seniors and me and Blake as fifth-years. You come to Virginia and you kind of expect to win, and you expect to win championships. You win one, you kind of take a year off and then two years go by then you don't make the playoffs so I think everyone realizes we've got to get back to our winning ways and I think we'll do that this year."
