A University of Virginia lacrosse player is off the team after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer.
Carl Walrath, 21, was initially suspended after the incident last November, but was dismissed from the team Tuesday.
Charlottesville police say two officers broke up a fight along the 1400 block of University Avenue back on November 24, but Walrath resisted, punched an officer in the face, and ran. He was arrested a couple of blocks away.
On January 24 Walrath pleaded guilty to assault and obstruction of justice. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 50 hours of community service.
