Evening CAT Ridership Declines After New Routes Go Into Effect

Posted: Updated:

According to Charlottesville Area Transit manager John Jones, half of the people that used CAT at night have stopped taking the bus since new routes went into effect earlier this month.

He says riders may be confused because the old night route numbers went away, but not the actual routes. Jones says the only nighttime service CAT eliminated was service to Pantops Mountain.

Jones said, “If you are a 21 rider you are riding number 2, if you are a 22 rider you have your choice of 4 or 6, and if you are a 23 rider you have Route 1.”

Jones says the new schedule numbers are posted online. Click here for the CAT routes and schedules.
