STAUNTON, Va (WVIR) -

An organization committed to helping the hungry and the homeless in the Shenandoah Valley just got a helping hand.

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) awarded more than 5,000 FEMA dollars to help Staunton's Valley Mission.

The EFSP helps expand areas that have a high population of homeless, and the Valley Mission has been helping those in need for more than 40 years.
