Mudhouse in Running for America’s Best Coffeehouse

Posted: Updated:

A downtown Charlottesville coffee shop is in the running for recognition as America's best.

Mudhouse is one of 10 regional nominees in the America's Best Coffeehouse competition put together by the Coffee Fest tradeshow and DaVinci Gourmet.

The 20-year-old Charlottesville shop won second place in last year's inaugural challenge. Mudhouse's baristas are motivated to be named the best this year.

“Besides the coffee, it's definitely our staff. The people who make the coffee for us, they're the ones who make it sing. We get phenomenal coffee from great farmers. Our roasters roast it with the utmost care. But at the end of the day it comes down to our staff creating the absolute welcoming and warm environment,” said Dan Pabst, Mudhouse’s director of retail operations.

A combination of secret shoppers and online voting will determine which six finalists compete for the best coffeehouse title in New York City.
